When my husband first went into the military... It seemed that everyone had to have a "call sign". Since he was new, he didn't have one. I don't know who, but someone decided that since our last name 'Ottinger' is so close to 'otter', they would call him 'Otter'. My husband is NOT a person that enjoys being likened to an animal. But rather than refuse the new "call sign", he adapted to it and amended it. He found a picture of an otter with an angry face, copied and pasted it to his email signature block, and changed his name to "Mad Otter"!
After that, we started collecting otter memorabilia. We have about 5 figurines and a couple stuffed animals of otters. Many of you may not know this bit of trivia... but do you know what a group of otters are called?? You probably guessed it, 'a romp'! Yep! And what a fantastic name for our family!
